American Airlines to Implement Full Fleet Starlink Wi-Fi by 2027

American Airlines, based in Fort Worth, will begin outfitting its entire mainline fleet with high-speed Starlink Wi-Fi in early 2027. This initiative follows the May announcement that Starlink would first be installed on over 500 Airbus aircraft next year.
The plan will see the addition of SpaceX’s Starlink service to more than 1,000 mainline jets, which include both Airbus and Boeing models. In January, American initiated free satellite Wi-Fi for AAdvantage loyalty program members, transitioning from the previous service managed by Intelsat and Viasat. Heather Garboden, American’s chief customer officer, underscored the importance of dependable connectivity for travelers, highlighting how Starlink would enhance the flying experience. With over 165 million annual passengers on American’s mainline planes, the airline aims to provide consistent internet access throughout their journey.
