Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Returns for Another Run

The University of Texas at Dallas is gearing up to host the Komen Dallas North Texas Race for the Cure for its second edition on October 17, 2026. The event aims to raise funds for breast cancer research, patient services, and advocacy efforts. Participants can select from a 5-kilometer or 1-mile course, building on the previous year’s achievement where approximately 7,000 individuals took part and raised $1.2 million.

“Our community is thrilled to partner with Susan G. Komen again for this significant event that not only serves as a fundraiser but also brings awareness to breast cancer and supports those affected by it,” stated Mercy Wenger, assistant director of university events. The UT Dallas community is encouraged to join the ‘Comets for the Cure’ team, with discounted registration available for students, staff, and faculty. Furthermore, on race day, research from Dr. Nikki Delk’s lab will be featured, emphasizing the impacts of inflammation on breast and prostate cancers.
