Rusty Taco to open location at historic Lakewood Theater in Dallas

A new Rusty Taco restaurant is slated to open in an unexpected venue: the historic Lakewood Theater located at 1825 Abrams Pkwy in Dallas. This development comes about through a franchise agreement forged with Bowlski’s, a bowling center and event venue established by Craig and Jennifer Spivey.

The Spiveys converted the historic theater into a Bowlski’s bowling alley in 2019, joining their original venue founded in Aspen Valley, Colorado, in 2016. The Dallas location features ten bowling lanes, craft beer, and food. Recognizing the need for a dining option in the area, the couple previously opened a DoubleDave’s location, a pizza chain from Austin. This will be their inaugural Rusty Taco, though Craig Spivey has had a long-standing relationship with the brand, first meeting founder Rusty Fenton in 2010 and later reconnecting in 2017. The new taco spot is expected to open in late fall 2026, with an additional location at Aspen Valley planned for early 2027. Gala Capital Partners’ VP, David Gonzalez, expressed enthusiasm about this collaboration, emphasizing their commitment to creating gathering spaces through quality food and entertainment.
