Marybeth Ingram, also known as Barbie and Gia, is receiving support from the community she has long aided through charitable efforts. In 1997, Ingram earned the title of Miss Fem Buddies, which came with the obligation to participate in various benefits for LGBTQ+ causes. Now, as she confronts a third cancer diagnosis, the community has the opportunity to return that support.
Sue Ellen’s is set to host Barbie’s Buddies Reunion, a benefit concert in her honor, featuring live music from The Bad Habits on Sunday, Oct. 25, from 4 to 7 p.m. Ingram has a rich history with Buddies, recalling how the venue became a significant part of her life, where she not only performed but also celebrated milestones such as the birth of her son, Justice.
Marybeth’s health challenges began when she was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, followed by malignant melanoma and most recently, malignant basal carcinoma. Despite the difficult journey, she remains determined to fight for her family, including her partner Tracy and her two grandsons. At the benefit, Ingram looks forward to reconnecting with old friends and sharing joyful moments.
