President Donald Trump stated on Saturday that he has not made a definitive choice about livestreaming the upcoming execution of former Army Major Nidal Hasan, who was responsible for the 2009 Fort Hood shooting that resulted in 13 fatalities. He mentioned there are two potential approaches: to broadcast the event or keep it private. “By showing it, maybe other people won’t be doing what he did. So I’ll make a decision ultimately,” Trump shared with reporters at the White House.
He characterized Hasan as a “vicious killer” who caused immense suffering, stating, “He’s a vicious killer — killed 13 people in cold blood, wounded over 20, some of those people will never have their lives back in a true sense.” Trump’s remarks followed his previous day’s confirmation of support for the livestream plan, which has sparked disagreement among members of his party.
