Hunt Energy Spinout Watter Puts AI Computing in Hyatt Regency Dallas, Turns Server Heat Into Hot Water

The Dallas-based startup Watter has introduced a waste-heat-to-water platform designed for commercial facilities, with the Hyatt Regency Dallas at Reunion Tower as its inaugural client. This innovative system captures heat emitted by computer servers within the building and converts it into hot water.

According to Watter co-founder and CEO James Hancock, a server typically releases nearly all the energy it consumes, yet operates at only 5% to 15% capacity. The new technology aims to lower water-heating expenses while also allowing hotels to generate potential revenue by simulating a mini data center.

Hancock noted that hotels possess existing infrastructure that can be harnessed effectively. Watter’s installation at the Hyatt signifies a shift from conventional data computing methods, aligning with contemporary energy efficiency goals.
