A pivotal development has occurred in the quest for Marjulin Briceño Arrieta, a 42-year-old woman from Denton who has been missing for nearly three weeks. Volunteers uncovered her wallet on a rural roadway in Decatur on Sunday morning. The wallet contained her ID, credit cards, and personal items.
Marjulin disappeared on September 28 after meeting her estranged husband, 49-year-old Richard Perez, at his residence. Perez is a suspect in her presumed murder and is currently evading law enforcement. Authorities, including the Denton Police Department and the FBI Dallas, are urging the public for assistance in locating Perez, who was last seen in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The search efforts have been spearheaded by Alfonso Solis, whose nonprofit organization arranged volunteer searches. The find triggered strong emotions among Arrieta’s family, who had been desperately seeking news for weeks. Despite the discovery, police have not confirmed if it will lead to any new information regarding Arrieta’s location.
As of now, Arrieta’s vehicle was found abandoned at Perez’s apartment, and he has been tracked through Flock license plate recognition systems. Her family continues to endure the trauma of uncertainty, hoping for closure. Community support remains strong with ongoing searches and prayers, and a reward of $2,000 is being offered by Denton County Crime Stoppers for pertinent information related to the case.
