The Harry W. Bass Jr. Foundation has announced a commitment of an additional $10 million to The University of Texas at Dallas, intended for the completion of the Edith and Peter O’Donnell Jr. Athenaeum’s second phase. This facility, which is set to open in spring 2027, will serve as a vibrant center for music and performance, featuring a 680-seat concert hall designed in a vineyard-style layout that facilitates a more engaging interaction between performers and their audience.
This latest contribution follows the Bass Foundation’s earlier transformative $40 million donation to UT Dallas in 2023. The concert hall, which will bear the name of the foundation, is expected to enhance the university’s music program while providing community access to more than 60 annual music events, reaching over 8,000 local residents. The O’Donnell Athenaeum aims to create a cultural gateway that intertwines the visual and performing arts with the academic environment of the university and its neighboring communities.
