Arlington City Council seeks to clarify Cowboys' lease agreement on Tues. night

The Arlington City Council is scheduled to discuss their lease agreement with the Dallas Cowboys on Tuesday evening. The focus of the meeting is to gain clarity on the lease extension related to AT&T Stadium.

In April, the council approved a master agreement that extends the Cowboys’ lease at the stadium until 2055, an extension from its original expiration in 2040. This agreement includes provisions for stadium improvements, but city officials are seeking to understand the city’s financial contributions towards the maintenance, operation, and management of the facility. Documentation indicates that the Cowboys are tasked with funding and completing specific improvements by 2043, with the team expected to invest a minimum of $750 million, while the city may contribute up to $273 million over the next two decades. The anticipated economic impact from the Cowboys is estimated at approximately $9.7 billion over the next 30 years.
