Dallas Mavericks Complete Two-Way Deal with Walter Clayton Jr.
The Dallas Mavericks have officially signed Walter Clayton Jr.

The Dallas Mavericks have officially signed Walter Clayton Jr. to a two-way contract, becoming the No. 18 selection in the 2025 NBA Draft to join the team’s finalized roster. Clayton’s prior NBA stint included a rookie season in which he averaged 7.8 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists over 69 appearances with the Utah Jazz and Memphis Grizzlies.
During his time with Memphis, he was included in the trade for Jaren Jackson Jr., where he posted averages of 9.7 points and 5.6 assists in 24 games. After failing to secure a trade for him, the Grizzlies waived Clayton, allowing Dallas to sign him following his clearance from waivers. With the potential to appear in up to 50 games this season, Clayton may provide vital depth to the Mavericks’ backcourt as they aim to enhance their bench lineup in Kyrie Irving’s absence.
