Located just inside the Fair Park entrance, the 90-year-old Continental DAR house is filled with rich history. Since 1937, the Jane Douglas Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution has owned and preserved this important site. Initially known as the Hospitality House, it was constructed by Continental Oil Company in 1936 for the Texas Centennial. Visitors often stop by for affordable refreshments, but they also find engaging exhibits that highlight history, genealogy, and patriotism.
Looking ahead to the 2026 State Fair of Texas, the house will showcase a new exhibit focusing on the contributions of women and girls during the American Revolution, offering insights into their diverse roles. Guests can explore their own family histories and benefit from the Elizabeth Wright Library’s extensive genealogical resources. Admission is free, with visitors encouraged to make their mark on a commemorative Declaration of Independence as part of the 250th anniversary celebrations of the nation, ensuring this historic building continues to be a focal point at the fair.
