The Philadelphia Eagles are struggling after suffering their fourth consecutive defeat, losing to the Carolina Panthers in Week 6. This followed the critical injury of quarterback Jalen Hurts, who was placed on injured reserve due to a blood clot related to a calf injury sustained in Week 4 against the Los Angeles Rams. With Hurts sidelined for at least four games, Tanner McKee steps in as the starter, while rookie Cole Payton serves as backup.
In an attempt to fill Hurts’ position, the Eagles signed Joe Milton from the Dallas Cowboys’ practice squad. However, before reaching out to Milton, the Eagles initially pursued Andy Dalton, who declined the opportunity to return to the team, opting instead to sign with another franchise. Dalton’s experience with the team’s offensive scheme made him a desirable choice, but resentment lingered after his brief stint with the Eagles earlier this season. The team is reportedly confident in McKee’s ability to lead the offense in Hurts’ absence, as quarterback dynamics remain a critical focus in the upcoming weeks.
