An Oak Cliff staple, Cafeteria y Loncheria El Padrino, located at 408 W. Jefferson Blvd., will cease operations by the end of 2026. After nearly 37 years in the community, the restaurant will lose its lease in December, as confirmed by Juan Contreras, son of the owner. Property managers have opted not to renew the lease, leaving the restaurant with less than three months to vacate.
According to Contreras, this development is not unexpected, considering the ongoing growth and development in the nearby Bishop Arts District. He noted that El Padrino has been a vital part of the neighborhood since 1989 and has attracted loyal customers with its genuine Mexican cuisine and warm atmosphere. While the Oak Cliff location is set to continue operations through 2026, the family remains hopeful about finding a new, affordable location. They urge community members to visit before the closure.
