The Minnesota Vikings, enjoying a Week 6 bye while holding a 5-0 record, are not allowing complacency to set in. With the NFC North proving to be a fiercely competitive division this season, the Vikings will need to enhance their roster to maintain their lead. One potential improvement could come through the trade acquisition of a running back.
Heavy Sports has suggested that the Vikings consider Keaton Mitchell of the Los Angeles Chargers as a possible target. The proposal includes offering a Day 3 pick, likely a sixth or seventh rounder, for Mitchell, who has rushed for 139 yards in six games this season. Known for his speed, the 5-foot-8 running back went undrafted in 2023 but later signed with the Baltimore Ravens. There, he demonstrated significant potential, averaging 8.4 yards per rush during his rookie season.
With current depth options like DeeJay Dallas and Demond Claiborne struggling to contribute effectively, Mitchell could provide a much-needed boost to the Vikings’ backfield at a low cost. He is under contract through 2027, offering a long-term solution for this position, or he could serve as a temporary fix for this season.
