SEAGOVILLE, Texas – Following a high-speed pursuit that lasted 45 minutes and reached speeds above 100 mph, a driver is now in custody. The incident began early Thursday morning at 1:28 a.m. when Seagoville police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a speeding Ford Mustang on westbound U.S. Highway 175.
The driver fled, prompting the lengthy chase which took them through South Dallas, Pleasant Grove, and eventually into East Dallas. At one point during the chase, the vehicle was reported to be operating on three tires and a seriously worn wheel. The pursuit ended when the suspect crashed into a fence after crossing a grassy area.
The individual fled into a backyard located at 4600 Garland Ave., where he concealed himself in a shed. Despite multiple requests for surrender from the officers, the suspect attempted to barricade the door. In response, Dallas police deployed pepper ball rounds into the shed, compelling the suspect to exit. He was subsequently arrested at the scene.
